I'm Bill Thompson and I am proud to welcome you to my new website, "New Yorkers for Thompson". 

First and foremost, I’d like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as New York City’s Comptroller.

When I was reelected to a second term in 2005, I vowed to build upon the work that we accomplished during my first term — speaking out on behalf of all New Yorkers to ensure better educational opportunities, equalize access to health care, provide affordable housing, and improve transportation.

What I said then holds true today. I feel fortunate to have won your support, and am inspired to work on your behalf, because I truly believe that we live in the best city in the world.

During my tenure as Comptroller, and previously as President of the New York City Board of Education, I have traveled to all corners of this city. Many of you have spoken about your hopes and dreams but also about the obstacles that you have encountered.

Together, we are working to overcome those obstacles, those that have made it much more difficult for New Yorkers to fulfill their aspirations.   I know that by continuing to work together we can address the issues of importance to you and to all New Yorkers.

I hope I can count on your friendship and support in the years ahead.  I also am here to listen, so please take advantage of the section of this web site that provides a forum for ideas, or to volunteer or contribute.  I appreciate all that you have done, and know that together, we can accomplish so much more for this great city.
